Cavaliers Remains in Fifth Place at John Burns Intercollegiate

Lihu’e, Kaua’i, Hawaii – The 17th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team remains in fifth place after the second round at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Kaua’i, Hawaii. The Cavaliers shot 13-over 301 for a 36-hole total of 16-over 592. California leads the 17-team field at 573 while New Mexico and UNLV are tied for second at 578.
Senior Ji Soo Park (Clifton, Va.) leads Virginia at 1-over 145. He posted a second-round score of 2-over 74 to stand in ninth place. Sophomore Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) is in 15th place at 146, including an even par round of 72 on Thursday. Freshman Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) is in 27th place at 149, senior Denny McCarthy (Rockville, Md.) is 45th at 152 and freshman Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.) is 62nd at 154.
Arizona’s George Cunningham and New Mexico’s Andrej Bevins share the lead heading into Friday’s final round at 6-under 138.
