BUFFALO, N.Y.–The Virginia divers finished action on the second day of the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships on Tuesday (March 10).
Senior JB Kolod (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and junior Becca Corbett (Louisville, Ky.), who both punched their ticket to the NCAA Championships on Monday, each qualified for a second event at their respective national meets.
“We had another solid day on the boards,” UVa head diving coach Jason Glorius said. “JB and Becca stepped up again, while Carl and Jordan nearly punched their tickets. We are strong on platform, so we should have a good day tomorrow.”
Kolod placed second in men’s 3-meter with a score of 794.30, while juniors Carl Buergler (Arlington, Va.) and Jordan Sacks (Wilmette, Ill.) also qualified for finals and just missed qualifying for NCAAs, placing eighth (685.20) and ninth (654.35), respectively. Kolod has now qualified for the NCAA Championships on both 1-meter and 3-meter. The men’s national meet will be held in Iowa City, Iowa, March 26-28.
Corbett qualified for the NCAA Championships in women’s 1-meter, placing fifth with a mark of 546.15. She qualified for the women’s national meet, to be held in Greensboro, N.C., March 19-21, on 3-meter Monday.
The action concludes Wednesday when both genders compete in platform diving.
