UVa Golfers Move Up to Fourth Place at Seminole Intercollegiate

Tallahassee, Fla. – The No. 23 Virginia men’s golf team moved up five spots on the leaderboard into a tie for fourth place after the second round of play at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla. The Cavaliers shot 7-under 281 on Saturday for a 36-hole total of 8-under 568.
UVa’s second round total was the second-best team total for the day. The Hoos trail tournament leader East Tennessee State (564) by four strokes. South Carolina is second at 566, Georgia Tech is third at 567 and Louisville is tied with Virginia.
UVa senior Ji Soo Park (Clifton, Va.) posted his best score of the season, shooting 4-under 68, to lead the Cavaliers. He moved up to 19th place overall at 3-under 141. Senior Denny McCarthy (Rockville, Md.) continues to lead the Cavaliers. He enters Sunday’s final round in seventh place at 5-under 139. McCarthy shot 2-under 70 on Saturday.
Cavalier sophomore Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) is in 10th place at 140 after shooting 71 during the second round. Sophomore Kyle Kochevar (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) is in 55th place at 148 and freshman Danny Walker (Bradendon, Fla.) is 80th position at 155. Kochevar shot 72 during the second round while Walker finished with a 76.
Sophomore Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.), who is competing as a non-scoring individual, is in 27th place after carding a score of 72 for the second consecutive day.
At 14-under 130, East Tennessee State’s Gudmundur Kristiansson holds a seven shot advantage over the field after 36 holes.
