Virginia Drops 4-1 Decision to Marist

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va–The Virginia softball team dropped the final game of a home tournament to Marist, 4-1, Sunday afternoon at The Park.
UVa (7-25) mustered only one run against Marist starter Jayne Oberdorf (4-4), a solo home run by senior Megan Harris (Knoxville, Tenn.) to lead off the fourth inning. It was Harris’ fourth home run of the season.
Oberdorf earned the win, striking out seven in the complete game. Freshman Alex Formby (Orange, Calif.) took the loss (1-9), allowing two unearned runs in three innings of work.
The Red Foxes (9-13) took advantage of a pair of Cavalier errors to take the lead, 2-1, in the third. Samantha Reilly scored three runs to lead Marist.
The Cavaliers return to action Wednesday (March 25) when they host George Washington at 5 p.m. at The Park. Admission is free of charge.
