Virginia Falls 6-0 to NC State on Senior Day

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team fell 6-0 to NC State on Senior Day Sunday afternoon (April 12) at The Park. With the loss, the Cavaliers fell to 13-33 (4-14 ACC) on the season, while the Wolfpack improved to 25-16 (9-6 ACC).
Emily Weiman threw a four-hitter for NC State to improve to 20-11 on the season. The Wolfpack scored five runs in the fifth inning off freshman Andie Formby (Orange, Calif.), who fell to 8-17, to break open the game.
The Cavaliers had hits from sophomores Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.) and Katie Park (Scottsdale, Ariz.), freshman Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.) and a pinch-hit single by senior Heidi Velk (Murrieta, Calif.) in the seventh.
Velk, Megan Harris (Knoxville, Tenn.) and team manager Blaire Hodges were honored in a pre-game ceremony for Senior Day.
The Cavaliers conclude the home slate with a doubleheader against Longwood on Wednesday (April 15) at 5 p.m.
