CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s and women’s track & field teams will return to action this week by competing Thursday-Saturday at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. It marks the first time in three seasons that the Cavaliers have sent athletes to compete at the prestigious meet.
Live scoring of the meet will be available at FlashResults.com. The Cavaliers will have athletes compete in events throughout all three days of the meet.
Virginia is coming off a strong performance last weekend at the Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field. The Cavaliers set six school records at the meet, which featured over 1,300 athletes from 35 schools.
Most of the record-setting Cavaliers from the Virginia Challenge will be in action this week at the Penn Relays. Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina), the reigning ACC Men’s Field Performer of the Week, will compete in both the shot put and discus after setting the school record in both events this past weekend. Women’s shot put-record-holder Christine Bohan (Avon Lake, Ohio) will be in action, as will Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.), who set the school record in the women’s pole vault. The Cavaliers’ school-record setting women’s 4x100m relay will also compete in Philadelphia.
Following the meet, the Cavaliers will have two weeks to prepare for their final home meet of the season, the Virginia Grand Prix on May 8 at Lannigan Field.
