Cavaliers Claim Championships At UVa Fall Invite

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – A pair of Cavaliers claimed championships on Sunday as seniors Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) won their respective brackets at the UVa Fall Invite.

Collins claimed the Orange flight singles, picking up a 6-3, 6-2 win over teammate and fellow senior Skylar Morton (Bethesda, Md.), while Elbaba claimed the Blue flight singles bracket with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Yuliya Lysa of Arkansas.

Also playing in the Blue flight, senior Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) claimed third place with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Cavalier freshman Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Me.). Junior Victoria Olivarez (Virginia Beach, Va.) defeated Margo Pletcer of Utah by a score of 6-4, 6-4.

Elbaba (UVa) def. Lysa (Arkansas), 6-3, 6-1

Epstein (UVa) def. Kelley (UVa), 6-1, 7-5

Olivarez (UVa) def. Pletcher (Utah), 6-4, 6-4

Orange Flight Singles

Collins (UVa) def. Morton (UVa), 6-3, 6-2
