UVA Men's Golfers Start Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Eighth Place

Johnson City, Tenn. – The 15th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team is in eighth place after the first day of competition at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Johnson City, Tenn. The Cavaliers shot 6-over 294. A trio of teams are tied for first place at 1-over 289.
Virginia sophomore Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) led UVA with a 1-under 71 outing. He finished the first 18 holes in ninth place. Junior Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) is 22nd after carding a round of 73.
Junior Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.) is in 32nd place with a 74 while freshman Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) is 51st at 76 and senior Nick McLaughlin (New Castle, N.H.) is in 64th position with a 78. Sophomore Connor Messick (Oak Hill, Va.), who is competing as an individual, also posted a score of 78.
