ITA Atlantic Regional Results, Draws, Live Video

BLACKSBURG, VA. – Main draw play at the 2015 ITA Atlantic Regional began Friday (Oct. 16) at Virginia Tech’s Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Va.

In doubles action, seniors Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) and Jonathan Cornish (London, England), the top-seeded duo in the doubles draw, advanced to the round of 32 with an 8-4 win over Old Dominion’s Darragh Glavin and Zvonimir Podvinski. Junior Luca Corinteli (Alexandria, Va.) and redshirt junior Harrison Richmond (Pawley’s Island, S.C.), the No. 3 seed in the doubles draw, fell 8-5 to George Mason’s Aaron Capitel and Conor Moran.

In singles, Cornish defeated Radford’s Sam Taylor 6-1, 6-4 and Richmond won 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 over William & Mary’s Christian Cargill to advance to the round of 64. Cornish will face George Washington’s Danil Zelenkov at noon on Saturday and Richmond will take on Marco Lam of Georgetown at 11 a.m.

The top-16 seeds in the singles tournaments received byes into the round of 64, including Styslinger (8) and Corinteli (13) and sophomore Henrik Wiersholm (11). On Saturday at 11 a.m., Styslinger will face Michael Chen of Georgetown and Wiersholm will play Richmond’s James Aronson. Corinteli goes up against the Spiders’ Caleb Troy at 1:30 p.m.

Saturday’s slate will include round of 32 and round of 16 doubles matches followed by the round of 64 singles. The tournament runs through Tuesday, Oct. 20.

The singles and doubles champions at the Regionals will earn spots at next month’s ITA National Indoor Championships at the UTSA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
