Virginia fell to 15-8, 5-5 ACC

No. 4 Notre Dame improved to 22-2, 9-1 ACC

This will be the second time this season Virginia has played a team ranked No. 4, falling 67-55 at then-No. 4 Louisville on Jan. 18.

Virginia cut a once 15-point deficit to single digits after a four-point play by Faith Randolph. Randolph was fouled in the act of making a three, converting the free throw after to make it a 30-21 game.

A jumper by Sydney Umeri with 2:53 left in the first half made it a five-point game, 34-29. Notre Dame hit a three and a pair of free throws to close out the half with a 41-31 lead.

An and-one by Umeri with 15:26 remaining cut the deficit to seven, 49-42, the closest the Cavaliers would come.

Virginia scored two points in the final 5:44 of the game.

Randolph scored 14 points in the first half, starting the game making 6 of 9 shots in the half. She finished the game with 16 points, going 7-of-13

Lauren Moses fouled out with 4:31 remaining. Moses had eight points, three rebounds and an assist.

Sarah Imovbioh had 16 rebounds, all of which were defensive rebounds. 16 defensive rebounds is a career high.

Imovbioh made zero field goals, going 0-fo-3, but scored three points on 3-of-4 free throw shooting. Imovbioh also added three assists and a steal.

Sydney Umeri played 21 minutes, scoring seven points with two blocked shots.

Virginia was 2-of-11 (18.2%) from three-point range. UND was 2-of-8 (25.0 percent)
