BLACKSBURG, Va.-Virginia sophomore pole vaulter Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.) broke her own school record as the UVA women’s track and field team finished action at the Virginia Tech Invitational Saturday (Jan. 16) at Rector Field House.
Guy picked up a win in the seeded pole vault event with a mark of 4.12m (13′ 6.25″), six inches higher than her previous school record.
“Bridget was extremely motivated to start the season without missing a beat from the end of last year,” UVA assistant coach Mario Wilson said. “She is in great shape and very competitive. This was a great way to start the year!”
In the triple jump, senior Jessica Caldwell (Owings Mill, Md.) placed eighth with a leap of 11.73m (38′ 6″).
The Cavaliers return to action next weekend Jan. 22-23 for the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet in Lexington, Ky.
