UVA Finishes Second Day of NCAA Zone Diving Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md.-All six Virginia divers qualified for finals on the second day of the NCAA Zone A Championships Tuesday (March 8) in Annapolis, Md.
In women’s 3-meter action, senior Becca Corbett qualified for the NCAA Championships with a fourth-place finish (634.20 points). Corbett qualified on 1-meter Monday. The NCAA Championships will be held March 16-19 in Atlanta.
Freshman Kylie Towbin (New Canaan, Conn.) finished one place shy of qualifying for the NCAA meet, placing seventh with a combined prelims and finals score of 553.15. Senior Katie Warburg (Wilton, Conn.) finished 10th with 543.30 points, while sophomore Corey Johnson (Ambler, Pa.) was 11th (542.15) and freshman Kirsten Parkinson (Stamford, Conn.) was 14th (531.85).
“We had another good consistent day from Becca,” UVA head diving coach Jason Glorius said. “The other women turned it on in finals, but it was a little too late.”
Senior Carl Buergler (Arlington, Va.) finished 16th on men’s 1-meter with a combined score of 555.20.
The meet concludes Wednesday (March 9) with both the men and women competing in platform diving. The top-six women and top-four men will qualify for the NCAA Championships.
