RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 10 Virginia (10-5, 5-1 ACC) women’s tennis team stormed out of the gates in doubles on the way to a 5-2 victory at No. 42 NC State (9-5, 2-3 ACC) on Saturday.

Virginia will return to action on Sunday with another conference matchup at No. 29 Wake Forest. The contest with the Demon Deacons is set for a 10 a.m. start. Fans can follow along on live stats and live video linked at VirginiaSports.com.

No. 4 Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.), No. 13 Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.), No. 83 Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) and Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Me.) all won their singles matches to secure the 5-2 win over the Wolfpack.

The Cavaliers jumped out of the gates, securing the doubles point with 6-1 wins on courts two and three. The pairing of Elbaba and Morton defeated the Wolfpack team of Bianca Moldovan and Joanna Nalborska, while the UVA pairing of Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) and Nauta defeated the NC State team of Amanda Rebol and Claudia Wiktorin.

Virginia never trailed from there as Elbaba’s quick work on court two extended the Cavalier lead. Elbaba defeated Nalborska in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

NC State got on the board with a straight-set victory on court three as Moldovan defeated Morton 6-1, 7-6 (6). The singles victory made it a 2-1 lead for the Cavaliers.

Virginia extended the lead again with Collins’ 6-3, 7-6 (4) win on court one over No. 61 Martina Frantova. The Wolfpack would again cut the lead to one with a straight-set victory on court five where Rebol defeated Victoria Olivarez (Virginia Beach, Va.) 6-3, 6-1.

Nauta locked things up for the Cavaliers on court four, fighting back after splitting the first two sets with a quick win in the third set. She defeated Wiktorin 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 to put the match out of reach.

Kelley then close it out with a 6-0, 6-0 win on court six over Tayla Stenta.
