LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The No. 9 Virginia baseball team (17-8, 5-4 ACC) fell in the rubber game of a three-game series at No. 7 Louisville, 15-0, Sunday afternoon (March 27) at Jim Patterson Stadium in Louisville, Ky.
Louisville (19-5, 6-3 ACC) struck for two in the first inning on a Devin Mann RBI double and a Danny Rosenbaum RBI single. Ryan Karstetter (Fr., State College, Pa.) reached over the wall in left to take away a three-run home run from Devin Hairston.
The Cardinals batted around and scored 10 runs in the fifth to break open the game. Danny Rosenbaum had three hits for Louisville in the contest, while Rosenbaum, Corey Ray and Devin Mann each drove in three runs.
Tommy Doyle (So., Vienna, Va.) took the loss (1-3), allowing six runs (four earned) in 4.0+ innings of work.
Drew Harrington (5-1) earned the win for Louisville, scattering four hits with no runs allowed in seven innings. Lincoln Henzman, Jake Sparger and Zack Burdi combined to complete the shutout.
The Cavaliers return to action Tuesday (March 29) when they host Old Dominion at 4 p.m.
