CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Freshman Erika Osherow (Darien, Conn.) struck out a season-high eight batters as the home team put together a sixth inning rally and Virginia (12-23) defeated Radford (18-11) by a score of 5-2 at The Park.

Osherow (9-14) picked up her third consecutive win with the victory against Highlanders. It was also her third straight complete-game as she struck out the season-high eight batters and allowed the two runs on six hits. She walked two in the outing.

Abby Morrow (10-7) suffered the loss for the Highlanders as she allowed the five runs – one earned – on eight hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

Virginia got on the board in the fourth inning when Park delivered an RBI single up the middle to score Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.) from second. Davis reached on a fielder’s choice before a stolen base put her in scoring position for Park. The Cavaliers led 1-0 after four innings of play.

Radford answered in the fifth, putting runners at the corners with two outs. A stolen base put two in scoring position before Whitney Davis delivered a two-RBI single up the middle to give the Highlanders the 2-1 lead.

The Cavaliers didn’t blink, turning the tables on the Highlanders in the sixth inning to reclaim the lead. Virginia loaded the bases and strung together four hits while capitalizing on three Radford errors to take a 5-2 lead.

The Highlanders looked to rally in the seventh, but Osherow snagged a pair of line drives for the first two outs before recording her eighth strikeout of the night to end the Radford threat and secure the win for Virginia.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday (March 30) hosting No. 7 James Madison in a doubleheader at The Park. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
