Hoos Continue to Hold Lead at Bryan National Collegiate

Browns Summit, N.C. – The 20th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team will enter Sunday’s final round of play at the Bryan National Collegiate with a five-shot lead over second-place Florida State. The Cavaliers shot 7-over 295 during Saturday’s second round at the Bryan Park Champions Course in Browns Summit, N.C. for a two-day total of 8-over 584. The 21st-ranked Seminoles are second at 589 and No. 49 Wake Forest is third at 595.
Virginia won the tournament last year when it defeated Wake Forest in a two-hole playoff.
UVA senior Lauren Coughlin (Chesapeake, Va.) leads the Cavaliers with a 36-hole total of even par 144. She is in second place after posting back-to-back rounds of 72. Senior Elizabeth Szokol (Winnetka, Ill.) dropped back to fifth place at 2-over 146 after posting a second round score of 75.
Junior Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) is also in the top-10 for Virginia. She enters the final round in seventh place at 3-over 147. She shot 74 on Saturday. Freshmen Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) and Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) are tied for 28th place at 151. Redding shot 74 during the second round while Gonzales posted a 78.
Sophomore Maho Hayakawa (Lake Mary, Fla.), who is competing as an individual, is in 77th place at 165.
Florida State’s Matilda Castren leads the field at 2-under 142.
