CHESTNUT HILL, Ma. – Inclement weather and field conditions forced the suspension of the series opener between Virginia (12-25, 2-7 ACC) and Boston College (19-13, 3-3 ACC) on Saturday at Shea Softball Field.
The game will resume at noon on Sunday where it was suspended. It will begin at the top of the third inning with no score between the two teams. Fans can follow the game through live stats on VirginiaSports.com and on twitter with the official softball account at UVASoftball.
Virginia got its first opportunity in the second inning, putting two runners in scoring position as Madison Labshere (El Cajon, Calif.) and Allie Arneson (Aledo, Texas) both reached base and then worked themselves into scoring position with stolen bases. The Eagles were able to escape the jam, however, recording a strikeout and a pop up to end the threat.
The Cavaliers turned a pair of double plays, one in the first and one in the second, to get out of both innings after the Eagles put runners on base and in scoring position.
