Bennett, Brogdon and Gill Honored by VaSID

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va – Virginia’s Tony Bennett, Malcolm Brogdon (Atlanta, Ga.) and Anthony Gill (High Point, N.C.) were honored by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) on Friday (April 22).
Bennett was named the 2016 VaSID University Division Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year, while Brogdon was named VaSID University Division Player of the Year and Gill was named to the VaSID All-State Second Team.
Bennett earns the VaSID Coach of the Year honor for the third straight season after guiding Virginia to a 29-8 record and NCAA Elite Eight appearance.
Brogdon earned unanimous consensus first-team All-America honors after becoming the first player to earn ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors in the same season. Brogdon, who earned VaSID first-team honors for the third consecutive season, led Virginia in scoring at 18.2 points per game and finished his UVA career ranked ninth in scoring with 1,809 points.
Gill averaged a career-high 13.8 points and led UVA in rebounding at 6.1 per game. Gill earned All-ACC third-team honors and finished his career ranked 33rd with 1,222 points.
