Brogdon Selected by Milwaukee in 2016 NBA Draft

Former Virginia two-time All-American Malcolm Brogdon (Atlanta, Ga.) was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft on Thursday (June 23) night.

Brogdon was the 36th overall pick of the draft and his selection marks the first time since 1983-85 that a Virginia player has been selected in three consecutive drafts.

Brogdon is the fourth Virginia player selected in the NBA Draft since 2012, joining Mike Scott (2012), Joe Harris (2014) and Justin Anderson (2015). Both Scott and Harris were second-round selections, while Anderson was selected 21st overall in the first round.

Brogdon finished his UVA career ranked ninth all-time in scoring with 1,809 points and first on UVA’s career free throw shooting chart at 87.6 percent. In 2015-16. Brogdon became UVA’s first consensus first-team All-American since Ralph Sampson in 1983 after leading the Cavaliers to a 29-8 record and first NCAA Elite Eight appearance since 1995. Brogdon became the first player in Atlantic Coast Conference history to earn league player of the year and defensive player of the year in the same season. He averaged a career-high 18.2 points and earned first-team All-ACC honors for the third straight year.

Brogdon averaged a team-leading 14 points en route to consensus second-team All-America honors as a junior in 2014-15.
