Thai-Son Kwiatkowski Reaches Semis at Pittsburgh Futures

Thai-Son Kwiatkowski – Virginia men’s tennis rising senior Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C.) advanced to the semifinals at the $10,000 Merrill Lynch Futures tournament in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Kwiatkowski downed Hunter Callahan (6-4, 6-1), Cameron Silverman (6-0, 6-1) and Adam El Mildewy (6-4, 2-6, 6-3) to set up a semifinal match against fifth-seeded Jose Statham. Statham, a native of New Zealand who is currently ranked No. 527 in the world, defeated Kwiatkowski 6-3, 7-6 (3).
Kwiatkowski also advanced to the semifinals in doubles, partnering with former Georgia tennis player Nathan Pasha. The two won two matches before falling 6-2, 6-3 to Connor Smith and Danny Thomas in the semis.
In four Futures tournaments this summer, Kwiatkowski has now advanced to the semifinals in singles three times and has made it to the semifinals in all four doubles draws, including winning the doubles title in Charlottesville and in Winston-Salem.
