Mihaljevic Places 21st in Shot Put at Rio Olympics

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil–Virginia rising senior Filip Mihaljevic finished 21st in the shot put at the Rio Olympics Thursday (Aug. 18).
Mihaljevic, representing Croatia, placed 21st with a mark of 19.69m in his Olympic debut. Mihaljevic was the 2016 NCAA Champion in the outdoor shot put and NCAA runner-up during the indoor season. He was the bronze medalist in the event at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, Ore.
Also in action in the shot put was UVA coach Kemal Mesic, who representing Bosnia and Herzegovina, placed 30th with a mark of 18.84m.
