CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 11 Virginia field hockey team (2-3, 0-1 ACC) hosts Liberty (0-3, 0-0 Big East) on Monday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. at University Hall Turf Field in Charlottesville, Va.
Admission is free for all regular-season Virginia field hockey games.
Live stats will be available through the GameTracker link on VirginiaSports.com as well as being available through the Virginia Game Day app. The game stream live online as an ACC Network Extra game online and on the WatchESPN app.
Virginia is coming off a 3-2 loss at No. 2 Duke on Friday night. Sophomore goalkeeper Carrera Lucas (Brooklandville, Md.) made a career-high 10 saves. Senior Lucy Hyams (Whitstable, England) and junior Tara Vittese (Cherry Hill, N.J.) scored the Cavalier goals.
Liberty, which is currently unranked but started the year at No. 13 in the NFHCA poll, is looking for its first win of the season after falling 3-2 at No. 19 James Madison and 4-0 at Duke as well as falling 3-2 in overtime last weekend against now-ranked No. 1 Syracuse.
The two teams met last year in Lynchburg in a battle of top-10’s when No. 5 Virginia held on for a 4-3 win over No. 8 Liberty. Hyams scored two goals with an assist in the victory.
Virginia will be home this coming weekend, hosting No. 16 Princeton on Friday, Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. and No. 4 UConn on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m.
