Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia women’s golf team returns to action this weekend at North Carolina’s Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. The three-day tournament will run Friday through Sunday at the University’s par-72, 6,379-yard Finley Golf Course.
The 17-team field includes North Carolina, LSU, Wake Forest, Duke, South Carolina, Tennessee, Michigan State, Alabama, NC State, Michigan, Arkansas, Ohio State, Rollins, Vanderbilt, UNC Wilmington and Louisville. UNC will also field a B-team for the event.
Virginia was ninth at last year’s Tar Heel Invitational as senior Elizabeth Szokol led the Cavaliers with an 18th-place finish.
Virginia’s lineup for this year’s tournament features senior Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), sophomore’s Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas), Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) and Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) and freshman Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.). Sophomore Rachel Corry (Ridgefield, Conn.) will compete as an individual.
