Virginia Set To Compete At ITA Atlantic Regional

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s tennis team hits the road this weekend to compete at the ITA Atlantic Regional hosted by Old Dominion with seven players and three doubles teams competing for a spot in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoors.
Competition begins on Friday (Oct. 14) and runs through the championship on Monday (Oct. 17). The champions claim automatic berths at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
Old Dominion will be hosting the tournament at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center with some matches being played indoors and some matches being played outdoors. Admission is free.
All three Cavalier doubles teams received first-round byes on Friday and will begin play on Saturday morning. The duo of sophomore Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine) and Rosie Johanson (Abottsford, British Columbia) is seeded in the group of 5-8 along with the team of freshman Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) and junior Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.). The pairing of freshman Camille Favero (Sacramento, Calif.) and Teodora Radosavljevic (Belgrade, Serbia) is seeded in the group of 9-16.
All three Virginia doubles teams are slated to begin play at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.
In singles competition, which begins on Saturday, the Cavaliers have three seeded players with Johanson, Kelley and Radosavljevic seeded in the group of 9-16. Also competing in singles will be Favero, Gullickson and Mercer, along with freshman Hunter Bleser (New Braunfels, Texas).
The singles matches will begin Saturday afternoon.
