VIRGINIA POST-GAME NOTES

• UVA is now 53-34 in NCAA Tournament play and is 41-18 over the last seven years.
• The 20 hits are the most in an NCAA Tournament game for UVA, while the 17 runs are second most (18 vs. Richmond in 1972).
• Virginia and William & Mary met for the second time this season. The first game, also in Charlottesville on March 1, resulted in a 16-8 win for the Cavaliers.
• Virginia is now 74-29-2 all-time vs. William & Mary.
• Junior C Matt Thaiss extended his current hitting streak to 17 games with an RBI single in the fourth inning. He also has a team-leading 29 multiple-hit games this season after going 2-for-5.
• Sophomore 2B Ernie Clement moved into fifth all-time in single-season runs scored (61) and tied for ninth in single-season hits (88). His four RBI is a career high.
• Sophomore Jack Gerstenmaier turned in a career-high 3-RBI performance.
• Clement hit his first home run of the season with a 2-run home run in the fourth inning.
• Virginia’s 17 runs against William & Mary is the first time the Cavaliers scored double-digit runs since April 19 vs. Radford (11).
• The 17 runs are the third most in a game this season. UVA scored 18 vs. VMI (Feb. 23) and 20 vs. Wagner (March 9).
• UVA has scored double-digit runs in 10 games this season.

WILLIAM & MARY POST-GAME NOTES

• The Tribe is now 2-7 in NCAA Tournament games with both wins coming against Ole Miss in the 2013 Raleigh Regional.
• The 17 runs by UVA are the second-most allowed this season by the Tribe, matching the total scored by North Carolina (April 20) and one shy of the 18 scored by UConn (March 11).
• Sophomore IF Cullen Large extended his team-leading hit streak to five games for The Tribe.
• Junior Ryder Miconi turned in his 15th multiple-hit game, going 3-for-5. He has reached base safely in 51-of-56 games played this season.
• Miconi’s three hits tied a career-high, marking his fifth time tallying three hits in a game. All five of his career three-hit games came this season.
• Sophomore Ryan Hall hit his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot in the seventh inning.
• W&M scored in the first inning for the 18th time this season. The Tribe is 10-8 when scoring in the first inning in 2016.
