CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team had three players selected to the 2017 All-ACC Academic Team, the Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced on Friday (March 3).

Senior Breyana Mason (Woodbridge, Va.), junior Lauren Moses (Mount Holly, N.J.) and freshman Jocelyn Willoughby (East Orange, N.J.) were part of the 30-member team. UVA was one of seven schools to have at least three players recognized.

Mason, a three-time honoree, leads Virginia in scoring with 10.0 points per game this season. Mason became the 32nd player in UVA history to join the 1,000-career points club two weeks ago at Virginia Tech. She averaged 11.0 points per game in conference play to pace the Cavaliers.

Moses is tied for third on the team with 9.5 points per game and is second in rebounding (5.8). Moses has three double-doubles on the year, coming against Coppin State, Maryland Eastern Shore and Miami. Moses scored a career-high 27 points to lead the Cavaliers in the win at Richmond.

An ACC All-Freshman Team selection, Willoughby is second among ACC freshmen in rebounding (6.2 per game) and leads the conference rookies in steals per game (1.7 per game, 51 overall). Willoughby earned an ACC Rookie of the Week selection after leading the Cavaliers in a win over then-No. 19/21 Virginia Tech and a close game at No. 8/9 Notre Dame.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
