Softball Trio Earns VaSID All-State Honors
June 16, 2017
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Catcher Katie Park (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was recognized by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) as a First Team All-State honoree. Juniors Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.) and Danni Ingraham (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) repeated as second team selections.
Already a First Team NFCA All-Region and First Team All-ACC selection, Park earns All-State honors for the first time in her career. Both Allison Davis and Ingraham were listed on the second team last season at outfield and first base respectively. The Cavaliers placed three members on the VaSID All-State team for the first time since 2012.
Park put together a career-year as a senior leading the team in nearly all offensive categories including batting average (.382), runs (34), hits (68), doubles (12) and total bases (111). She proved to be one of the ACC’s top hitters, ranking in the top 10 in the league in total bases (5th), batting average (6th), slugging percentage (6th), and hits (T-6th). Her .382 batting average was the eighth highest in program history.
Davis was one of two Cavaliers to start all 53 games and batted .328 with five home runs and 19 RBIs. She matched a career-high with four triples which was tied for fifth most in the ACC. She was second on the team with 16 multi-hit games including four-hit performances against Elon on Feb. 19 and N.C. State on March 18.
Ingraham emerged as the team’s top power threat with 10 home runs in 2017. She became the first Cavalier to reach double-digit long balls since Nicole Koren and Sarah Tacke hit 12 and 10 respectively in 2010. Ingraham helped the Cavaliers secure a postseason berth on the final day of the season with a three-run, go-ahead home run against Louisville in a 7-3 comeback victory. She was the team leader with 34 RBIs and in the field recorded 377 putouts, the third highest total in school history.
