CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s lacrosse team, along with two individual student-athletes, were recognized by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association on Wednesday (July 26) as earning academic honors for the 2017 season.
The IWLCA recognized 97 schools to the Division I Academic Honor Squad. Each team that had a GPA of 3.0 or higher earned the honor. Virginia was one of eight teams from the ACC among the honorees.
Along with the team, recent graduate Katherine Rueger (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) and rising senior Rachel Vander Kolk (Severna Park, Md.) were named to the IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll.
Last May, Rueger graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Media Studies. Vander Kolk will return for the 2018 season and is majoring in aerospace engineering.
All honored student-athletes achieved at least junior status academically and had a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater.
