CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Three former Virginia women’s lacrosse players were selected in the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) inaugural draft class on Wednesday (Aug. 23).
Morgan Stephens, Daniela Eppler and Casey Bocklet were each selected among the 100 players in total to five different teams – Baltimore Brave, New England Command, New York Flight, Philadelphia Fire and Upstate Pride. The league’s games will officially kick off in summer 2018.
Stephens, who played in the previous professional league (UWLX), was chosen by the Baltimore Brave. Eppler earned a spot on the New York Flight roster and Bocklet was selected by the Philadelphia Fire.
The players will take the field during the Inaugural Weekend (Showcase Game and Legends Celebration) at the US Lacrosse headquarters on Sept. 30. A supplemental draft will happen to fill out the rosters following the NCAA season.
