CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team (7-18, 3-11 ACC) looks to continue its winning-streak this weekend at Louisville on Friday (Nov. 10) at 7 p.m. in Cardinal Arena and Notre Dame on Sunday (Nov. 12) at 1 p.m. in Purcell Pavilion.

HOOS HITS
- Virginia has won three of its last four matches, including back-to-back wins over Clemson, 3-0, and Georgia Tech, 3-1.
- This will be the first rematch of the season for the Cavaliers. UVA hosted Louisville on Oct. 8 in a 3-1 loss and Notre Dame on Oct. 6, falling 3-1.
- Sophomore Jelena Novakovic (Belgrade, Serbia) paced the Cavaliers offensively with 25 kills on the weekend, including a career-high 18 in the win over GT.
- Freshman Sarah Billiard (Matthews, N.C.) has made a strong return to UVA’s lineup, with 24 kills over the weekend. Billiard had a team-high 11 kills against Clemson and 13 against Georgia Tech.
OPPONENT INFO
Louisville (18-6, 12-2 ACC) has won five straight matches entering the weekend. The Cardinals are second in the ACC in opponent hitting percentage (.178). Melanie McHenry leads the team with 307 kills, averaging 3.49 kills per set. Maggie DJong has a team-high 83 blocks and Molly Sauer leads the defense with 4.02 digs per set. Wilma Rivera is second in the conference with 33 service aces.
In the first meeting between UVA and Louisville, Virginia won the third set to extend the match but fell short in the fourth set. The first three sets were decided by four points or less. Junior Harley Sebastian (Atlanta, Ga.) led UVA with 15 kills. The Cardinals own a 5-3 edge in the all-time series.
Notre Dame (17-8, 7-7 ACC) split last weekend, falling to Duke 3-1 and defeating Wake Forest 3-2. The Irish lead the ACC in opponent hitting percentage (.151), blocks (2.80 per set), service aces (1.58 per set) and digs (17.92 per set). Ryann DJarld leads the ACC with 6.01 digs per set and Natalie Johnson leads with 46 service aces.
Virginia fell 3-1 in the first meeting that saw 34 ties and 19 lead changes. The first set took extra points and UVA came back to win the third to extend the match. Virginia leads the all-time series 5-2 over Notre Dame, edging the Irish 3-2 in last year’s match in South Bend, Ind.
UP NEXT
Virginia will return home to host Miami on Friday, Nov. 17, and Florida State on Sunday, Nov. 19, in Memorial Gymnasium. Friday’s match will be Senior Night with senior Haley Fauntleroy being recognized prior to the match.
