Tara Vittese Earns Third National Player of the Year Honor

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia field hockey senior midfielder Tara Vittese has been selected as the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Player of the Year, it was announced on Thursday.
Vittese claims the award for the third straight season, becoming the first three-time Longstreth/NFHCA Division I National Player of the Year.
The award is the latest in a long line of accolades for Vittese. She claimed her third-consecutive Longstreth/NFHCA South Region Player of the Year honor last month, and last week was named a Longstreth/NFHCA First-Team All-American for the fourth time in as many seasons. Vittese also received her second-straight Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Offensive Player of the Year honor this season.
Vittese ranked second in the nation in both goals (1.25) and points (3.20) per game this season, and finished with overall totals of 25 goals and 14 assists for 64 points. She finishes her career with 72 goals and 51 assists for 195 points.
