McKee concludes NCAAs for Virginia with Triple Jump

EUGENE, Ore.- Junior Kelly McKee (Lenexa, Kan.) concluded the final day of competition on Saturday (June 9) for the Virginia women’s track and field team at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field.

Competing in heavy rain, McKee recorded a mark of 13.23m (43’5″) with her third attempt in the women’s triple jump to qualify for the finals. That jump would be her best of the day as she placed ninth overall in the event. 

McKee recorded her first All-America honor with today’s performance, earning second-team All-America honors with the ninth-place finish. 

Virginia finished 43rd in the team standings with 4.5 points. Southern California claimed the national title with 53 points, clinching the win with the last event of the night, the 4x400m relay. Georgia finished second in the team standings with 52 points, while Stanford placed third with 51 points.

Competing earlier in the week, redshirt junior Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.) tied for fourth in the pole vault, earning first-team All-America honors. Sophomore Andrenette Knight (Morant Bay, Jamaica) earned second-team honors with a 10th-place finish in the 400m hurdles.
