Virginia Unveils 2018 Schedule
June 19, 2018
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia volleyball announced its 2018 schedule that features 12 home matches at Memorial Gymnasium. Admission will be free to all Virginia volleyball home matches in 2018.
Virginia will open the season at the Iowa State Challenge on Aug. 24-25. UVA will take on Ole Miss and Oregon State on opening day before facing the host Cyclones (Aug. 25).
The Cavaliers open the 2018 home slate by hosting the Jefferson Cup on Sept. 7-8. The tournament features a trio of matches with Virginia facing Youngstown State and UNC Wilmington on Friday (Sept. 7). Virginia will play George Mason on Saturday (Sept. 8) to close the tournament.
In addition to the season-opening tournament at Iowa State, Virginia will hit the road twice more for non-conference tournaments. The Cavaliers head to Northern Illinois on Aug. 31-Sept. 1 for three matches against the Huskies, Northern Kentucky and Nevada. Virginia closes non-conference action at VCU on Sept. 14-15, where UVA faces the Rams, South Carolina and Toledo.
Virginia begins the 18-match ACC season on the road before returning home to host Florida State on Sept. 28. The Cavaliers will play home-and-home matches against Boston College, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.
The Cavaliers will also host Miami, Syracuse, Louisville and Notre Dame at Memorial Gymnasium. The road slate includes trips to defending ACC co-champion Pittsburgh, NC State, North Carolina, Duke and Wake Forest.
Virginia will host an exhibition match against James Madison at Memorial Gymnasium on Aug. 18.
Since 2007, current Virginia Athletics Foundation (VAF) Annual Fund donors have earned five priority points for each consecutive year they have purchased volleyball season tickets. Now that UVA volleyball matches are no longer a ticketed event, the number of season volleyball priority points a donor earned as of 2017 will automatically be added to their VAF account each year.
Parking for volleyball matches is available free of charge at the Culbreth Road Garage located behind Carr’s Hill Field. Limited parking is available at the Central Grounds Garage (hourly rates apply).
ACC Network Extra broadcast coverage for the 2018 ACC volleyball season will be released later this summer.
