Congratulations to #UVATF standout Jordan Scott who won the national title in the triple jump at the Jamaican Senior National Championships on Thursday. Scott, who has been battling injuries most of the season, leapt to a personal best of 16.55m and won the triple jump ahead of in-form Odaine Lewis in 16.44m.Check out the full story here from the Jamaica Observer.

Former #UVAWBB standout Faith Randolph and former #UVAWLAX All-American Morgan Stephens joined forces this week. Stephens, a member of the US Women’s National Team, was a guest at Randolph’s basketball camp. Randolph plays professionally in Europe, including spending last season playing in Lebanon.

Battle for the Skies

Former #UVABase two-way player and current Washington Nationals closer Sean Doolittle spent Wednesday afternoon participating in the 75th anniversary commemoration of the Battle for the Skies (Air War) at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.. He was among members of the Mighty 8th Air Force and the Tuskogee Airman who laid a wreath honoring the 88,000 airmen killed during World War II.

The Chicago Red Stars announced that they signed former #UVAWSOC All-American and USWNT standout Morgan Brian to a contract to join the team for the remainder of the 2018 NWSL season. Brian was drafted by the Houston Dash in 2015, appeared in 33 games (32 starts) during her three seasons in Houston. In August 2017, the Red Stars acquired Brian via a trade with Dash and despite battling injuries for most of the year, she appeared in two games, starting one, for a total of 85 minutes. In the offseason, Brian headed abroad signing a contract with French powerhouse, Olympique Lyonnais. She appeared in four matches for Lyon.

It’s the return of our favorite Monday-morning segment, Hoos Got Trophies. Once again, it is a pair of #VirginiaTennis players hoisting the hardware. Congratulations to former #UVAMTEN All-American Dominic Inglot who won his third ATP Tour title of the year, taking the doubles crown at the Libema Open in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

Former #UVAWTEN All-American Julia Elbaba was the runner-up in the doubles draw of the ITF Women’s Circuit tournament in Sumter, S.C. this weekend. Elbaba and partner Shilin Xu fell in a third-set tiebreaker in the championship match, but still picked up trophies for their showing. It was Elbaba’s first action since early May.

Former #UVABase standout Brandon Guyer has never pitched professionally, but that didn’t stop the @Indians using the outfielder in a pinch against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday. He forced one groundout and two fly outs in a perfect ninth inning (8 pitches). The Indians lost the game, 9-3. You can click here to watch all three outs.
