WIMBLEDON, England  – Former Virginia men’s tennis player Dominic Inglot advanced to the semifinals of the main draw of Gentlemen’s Doubles at The Championships at Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club.
 
Inglot and his partner Franko Skugor of Croatia were seeded No. 15 in the field. They opened the championship by downing Hungarian Marton Fucsovics and Mischa Zverev of Germany 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 in the first round. In second round action on Friday (July 6), they topped Marcelo Demoliner and Santiago Gonzalez 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-2. On Monday (July 9), the tandem topped Maximo Gonzalez and Nicolas Jarry  4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (6), 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals. On Tuesday (July 10), they topped Robin Haase and Robert Lindstedt 6-3, 6-7(2), 7-6(1), 6-4 in the quarters.

The tandem were edged in a five-set battle against  No. 7 seed Americans Mike Bryan and Jack Sock in the semifinals, falling 6-3, 6-1, 6-7 (11), 6-7 (4), 6-4.

The 2009 UVA grad and native of Great Britain is making his eighth-straight appearance at Wimbledon and his 25th time competing in a Grand Slam event. This is his first semifinal appearance at Wimbledon after twice before advancing to the third round (2010, 2013). This matches his best-ever finish at a Grand Slam as he also advanced to the semifinals at the 2015 US Open.
 
Inglot came into the tournament ranked No. 33 in doubles and Skugor No. 34. The duo has won two tournaments together this season, earning the titles at the Gazprom Hungarian Open in April and the Libema Open in s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands in June. Skugor and Inglot partnered in the French Open in May, falling in the first round.

Inglot also played mixed doubles, partnering with Samantha Stosur of Australia. They fell 6-2, 6-3 to Americans Jack Sock and Sloane Stephens in the first round.
 
This is the 37th-consecutive Grand Slam in which a Cavalier has appeared.
