CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 14 Virginia (8-1-2) will begin a three-game home stand on Tuesday night (Oct. 16) when they host Radford (5-6) at Klöckner Stadium. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start and will air live on ACC Network Extra.

FOR STARTERS
• Virginia will look to avenge a 1-0 loss last season, the first in 13 meetings against Radford.
• The Cavaliers are 5-0-1 against non-conference opponents this season.
• Beginning Tuesday night, Virginia will begin its third, three-game home stand of the season.
• Virginia comes into the match ranked second in the nation in goals against average (0.44) and has conceded five goals in 11 games. The goal by Clemson in the 46th minute on Friday was the first surrendered in the second half by Virginia this season.
 
SERIES NOTES
• For the second-straight year Radford will be Virginia’s final non-conference regular season opponent.
• In last season’s meeting the Highlanders upset the then-No. 10 Cavaliers, 1-0 at Klöckner Stadium. Sivert Daehlie’s goal in the 61st minute proved to be the game-winner.
• The loss for Virginia to Radford was the first in 13 meetings and snapped a 15-game unbeaten streak against non-conference regular season opponents.
• UVA head coach George Gelnovatch is 2-1-1 all-time against the Highlanders.
• In the first 11 meetings of the series that first was played in 1982, Virginia outscored Radford, 45-4
 
OFFENSIVE OUTBURST
• The four Cavalier goals on Friday against Clemson were a season-high and the most since netting four against Boston College in the 2017 ACC Quarterfinal.
• Junior Robin Afamefuna was credited with the game-winner when he tucked a free kick into the upper right-hand corner 26 seconds after Clemson had tied the game at one.
• Virginia scored all three of its second half goals in an 11-minute span that included the first collegiate goal by freshman Daniel Steedman and the third goal of the week by classmate Daryl Dike.
• The Cavaliers have scored 13 of their 18 goals between the 30th and 60th minutes.
 
TOP FRESHMEN
• Aboubacar Keita is the top-ranked freshman in collegiate soccer according to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s midseason top-100 freshmen list.
• The list also included Virginia first years Cabrel Happi Kamseu (No. 54) and Daryl Dike (No. 77).
 
ACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• Freshman Daryl Dike was honored by the ACC, as the co-Offensive Player of the Week.
• The first year forward scored three times in two UVA victories last week. His performance was highlighted by a two-goal effort against No. 5 Denver on Monday
• Dike is the first Cavalier to take home offensive honors this season. Goalkeeper Colin Shutler has been named Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2018.
 
KEY FACILITATORS
• Sophomore Nathaniel Crofts had a part in four goals last week, recording two-assist performances against Denver and Clemson.
• He upped his season total to a team-high, five helpers and now is tied for fifth in the ACC with 0.57 assists per game.
• Of his nine points this season, Crofts has recorded seven of them against ACC opponents, the fifth most in the conference.
• Crofts and classmate Joe Bell (four assists), have started 32-straight games for Virginia, the longest streaks of any active Cavalier.
 
NOTING RADFORD
• Radford is coming off three-straight double-overtime victories, including a 2-1 triumph against UNC-Asheville on Friday night.
• The Highlander offense is powered by Amadou Diop and Kieran Roberts, who account for 11 of the team’s 15 goals this season.
• Freshman forward Amadou Macky Diop was been named Big South Attacking Player of the Week on Monday (Oct. 15). He netted two goals including a double-overtime game-winner against #16 Charlotte on Oct. 10.
