CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- Virginia runner Abbey Green (Bethesda, Md.) was named the ACC Freshman of the Week by the league office on Wednesday (Oct. 17).
Green led the Cavaliers with a fourth-place finish at the Penn State National Open on Friday (Oct. 12). She ran a time of 20:40 in the 6k race, posting the top-five finish in a field of 290 competitors.
The conference honor is the second for Green, who earned ACC Runner of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors after the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown (Sept. 21). Green was the top ACC finisher and top overall freshman runner at the meet, placing third overall in the competition.
Next, Green and the Cavaliers will return to Boston College’s Franklin Park for the ACC Championships on Oct. 26.
