Charlottesville, Va. – The No. 2 Virginia women’s golf team heads to North Carolina this weekend for the 17th annual Landfall Tradition held Friday through Sunday, Oct. 26-28, at the par-72, 6,166-yard Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington.
A total of 18 teams will compete on the par-72, 6,166-yard layout that borders the Intracoastal Waterway near Wrightsville Beach.
In addition to host UNCW and the Cavaliers, the field includes Arkansas, Duke, Furman, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Purdue, South Carolina, UCF and Wake Forest.
Virginia’s lineup for this year’s tournament includes senior’s Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas), Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) and Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.), plus junior Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and sophomore Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.).
Redding leads UVA with a 69.67 stroke average and is ranked No. 5 in the latest Golfstat standings. She’ joined in the top-100 by Lillie (27th), Patrick (34th) and Ford (82nd).
Lillie was the co-medalist at last year’s rain-shortened event. She tied Duke’s Ana Belac for medalist honors as both players completed 36 holes at 9-under 135. She became the first freshman in UVA history to win a multi-team tournament.
Redding finished 34th at 4-over 148 while Patrick was 55th at 151, Ford was 69th at 153 and Gonzales was 79th at 155.
Tee times are set to start at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday from the No. 1 and No. 10 tees. Sunday’s play will begin with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
