Wilmington, N.C. – The No. 2 Virginia women’s golf team is in third place following the second round of play at The Landfall Tradition tournament in Wilmington, N.C. The Cavaliers shot 2-over 290 on Saturday afternoon for a 36-hole total of 17-over 593. No. 8 Arkansas leads the 18-team field at 9-over 585 while No. 17 South Carolina is second at 15-over 591.
UVA, and the rest of the field, completed their first rounds on Saturday morning after inclement weather ended Friday’s play early. UVA posted a score of 15-over 303 for the first round.
Sophomore Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) and senior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) finished Saturday tied for ninth place at 3-over 147. Lillie shot 77 in the first round and then posted UVA’s low score for the tournament in the afternoon when she carded a score of 2-under 70. Gonzales was UVA’s top performer in the first-round with a 1-over 73 and followed that up with a 74 on Saturday afternoon.
UVA senior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) is in 20th place at 149. She had rounds of 75 and 74. Senior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) is in 33rd place at 151 after shooting 78 and 73. Junior Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) is in 41st place at 152. She had rounds of 79 and 73.
