Virginia Concludes Play At Commonwealth Invitational Sunday

NORFOLK, Va. –The Virginia women’s tennis team closed play at the second fall tournament of the weekend on Sunday (Oct. 7), closing the weekend strong at the Commonwealth Invitational hosted by Old Dominion.

Four teams converged on Norfolk to compete over the weekend with Old Dominion, Virginia ,Virginia Tech and William & Mary sending players to the event.
 
Virginia freshman Amber O’Dell (New Milford, N.J.) went undefeated in singles play, picking up three singles wins over the weekend. Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), who joined the event late after competing at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships, also went undefeated in singles play with two victories.

Also competing for the Cavaliers on the weekend were juniors Camille Favero (Sacramento, Calif.) and  Hunter Bleser (New Braunfels, Texas), and sophomores Lizzie Baker (Washington, D.C.) and Maya Das (Potomac, Md.).
 
Virginia will continue fall competition at the ITA Atlantic Regional hosted by Liberty next weekend. Competition begins on Friday (Oct. 12) and runs through Tuesday (Oct. 16).Players will be competing for a chance to advance to the Oracle/ITA National Fall Championships in November.
