Harlem, N.Y.-The Virginia women’s squash team (6-5) defeated New York University (0-3) on Sunday (Dec. 2) at the SL Green StreetSquash. The Cavaliers won all eight positions in the match, 3-0, as both teams agreed to not play the ninth position.
“Today rounded out a fun and successful weekend in New York, and with this morning’s win over NYU we go into the winter break 6-5,” head coach Mark Allen said. “Considering the strong schedule we had in place for this first half of the season, I think we all feel pleased with this, and the victory over number eight ranked Cornell yesterday evening could possibly put a UVA squash team into the top 10 on the national rankings for the first time ever. Special shout out to co-captain Annie Tyson, who went 4-0 this weekend, including a win from 2-0 down against Cornell that proved to be pivotal in the overall match result. We will now enjoy some well-earned rest and then prepare for the second half of the season.”
