CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Three members of the Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday (March 9) at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
 
Junior Brenton Foster (Townsville, Australia) will open the day for the Cavaliers with the high jump at 2 p.m. ET. Redshirt senior Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.) will follow in the pole vault at 5 p.m., while junior Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) closes the day in the triple jump at 6 p.m.
 
Follow the Action
ESPN3 will stream the championships live starting at 6:30 p.m. ET March 8 and starting at 5 p.m. ET March 9. A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 10 p.m. ET Sunday, March 10 on ESPN2 and again Monday, March 11 starting at 10 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

The Competition
• The Cavaliers will look to record their first NCAA champion since former Cavalier Henry Wynne won the 1500m in 2016.
• All three UVA athletes will jump in their respective field events on Saturday. Scott will compete in the triple jump, Foster will compete in the high jump and Guy will compete in the pole vault.
 
Hoos Returning
• Scott and Foster will make return trips to the NCAA Indoor Championships.
• Foster advanced to last year’s national championships, where he recorded a 10th-place finish for Manhattan.
• Scott will represent the Cavaliers for the third time at the NCAA Indoor Championships. He earned second-team All-American honors as a freshman and sophomore after finishing 10th and 12th, respectively.
• Guy will compete at her first indoor championship. She qualified for the 2018 outdoor championships for the first time last season, where she tied for fourth place in the pole vault.
 
The Cavaliers
• Scott enters as the second-best triple jumper in the country after recording a mark of 16.90m (55’5.5″) during the season. The jump set an ACC and school record. The junior is one of just four triple jumpers to clear 55 feet in the NCAA this season.
• Scott was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Regional Indoor Field Athlete of the Year for his performance during the season, which included winning the conference title in the triple jump. He also recorded a third-place finish and set school record in the long jump at the ACC Championships. Scott is the second Cavalier to be named the USTFCCCA Indoor Southeast Region Athlete of the Year, joining Marcus Robinson (2012) as an honoree.  
• Guy enters the competition with the ninth-best pole vault jump in the nation. She topped the school record in the event at three consecutive meets, clearing 4.20m (13’9.25″) at the Dr. Sanders Columbia Challenge, 4.30m (14’1.25″) at the Liberty Flames Invite and 4.38m (14’4.5″) at the Tiger Paw Invite. She finished third at the ACC Championships, earning All-ACC honors.
• Foster ranks 15th nationally in the high jump after clearing a height of 2.21m (7’3″) at the Liberty Flames Invite. The jump tied the school record in the event set by Herman Moore in 1990. Foster finished second at the ACC Championships in the event earning All-ACC honors.
