UVA in 10th Place at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate
Hilton Head Island, S.C. – The No. 14 Virginia women’s golf team shot 15-over 299 and finished the second round of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in 10th place with a 36-hole total of 22-over 590. No. 19 Florida State leads the 17-team field at 565 while No. 3 Duke is second at 573.
Senior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) and sophomore Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) led UVA on Saturday with scores of 3-over 74. Redding enters Sunday’s final round in 21st place at 3-over 145 while Lillie is 27th at 146.
Senior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) posted a round of 75 to move into 39th place at 6-over 148. Senior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) shot 76 and is in 54th position at 9-over 151. Freshman Riley Smyth (Cary, N.C.) shot 80 and dropped back to 86th place at 160. Junior Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.), who is competing as an individual, also shot 80 and finished the day in 67th place at 153.
Florida State’s Frida Kinhult holds a one-shot advantage (-5, 136) over Wake Forest’s Jennifer Kupcho in the race for medalist honors.
