CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No. 1 seed Virginia (29-3) fell 69-59 to No. 4 seed Florida State (27-6) in the 2019 ACC Tournament Semifinals on Friday night at the Spectrum Center.
 
Three players scored in double figures for the Cavaliers, led by redshirt sophomore De’Andre Hunter (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 13 points. Junior Kyle Guy (Indianapolis, Ind.) had 11 points and junior Ty Jerome (New Rochelle, N.Y.) had 10.
 
Virginia shot 41.5 percent for the game, while Florida State shot 56.5 percent. UVA finished with 19 turnovers. David Nichols led the Seminoles with 14 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Florida State was on the board first with a three and built a 20-10 lead at the 10:19 mark in the first half. The Seminoles were leading 29-19, when UVA had a 10-2 run that included eight points for Guy to cut it to 31-29. FSU had a 35-31 lead at the half. Senior Jack Salt (Auckland, New Zealand), who finished with eight points and five rebounds, hit two free throws to begin the second half before FSU had five straight points. UVA cut the lead to one after a three by freshman Kihei Clark (Woodland Hills, Calif.). The Cavaliers then took the lead with back-to-back baskets by Hunter. The teams traded the lead before an 18-4 run by Florida State to lead 62-49 with 6:43 to play. UVA made a run to close the lead to six, but Florida State held on for the win.

• UVA has posted an 9-3 mark as the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament  (1-1 in 1981, 3-0 in 2014, 1-1 in 2015, 3-0 in 2018 and 1-1 in 2019)
• UVA head coach Tony Bennett is 11-8 all-time in the ACC Tournament
• Double-figure scorers: De’Andre Hunter (13), Kyle Guy (11), Ty Jerome (10)
• Guy (11 points) moved into 32nd on UVA’s all-time scoring list with 1,237 points
