Greensboro, Ga. – The Virginia men’s golf team posted the second-best round of the day to move up to ninth place at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga. UVA shot 6-under 282 during the second round of the tournament for a two-day total of 4-over 580.
 
UVA was led by freshman David Morgan (Naples, Fla.), who shot a career-best 7-under 65 to move up to 11th place at 3-under 141. Starting on the 10th hole, Morgan started his round with back-to-back pars and then posted six birdies over his next seven holes. His score was the best against par by a Cavalier this season.
 
Junior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) is in 22nd place at even par 144. He shot 1-under 71 on Saturday. Senior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) shot 70 and finished the round in 32nd place at 2-over 146. Sophomore Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.) is in 51st place at 159 while freshman Jack Montague (Manakin-Sabot, Va.) is 84th at 160. Senior Ashton Poole, who is competing as an individual, is in 25th place at 1-over 145.
 
Alabama owns the overall tournament lead at 12-under 564 while three teams are tied for second at 568.
 
The final round of the tournament is set for Sunday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com. UVA is paired with Mercer and Ohio State and will tee off starting at 8:30 a.m. from the first tee.
