UVA Finishes Round Two of Bryan National Collegiate in Fifth Place
Browns Summit, N.C. – The No. 15 Virginia women’s golf team shot 6-over 294 and dropped back to fifth place after the second round of competition at the Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summit, N.C. The Cavaliers’ two-day total stands at 10-over 586. No. 12 Wake Forest, the co-host for the event, leads the 17-team field at 20-under 556.
Senior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) led UVA during the second round with a performance of even-par 72. She is in 15th place at 1-over 145. One shot behind her, in 18th place, is senior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) at 2-over 146. Gonzales posted a second-round effort of 3-over 75.
Senior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) is in 21st place at 147. She shot 73 on Saturday and sophomore Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) is in 28th place at 148. Lillie completed her second round with a score of 75. Junior Julia Ford occupies 76th place at 157. She shot 79 during the second round.
Freshman Riley Smyth (Cary, N.C.), who is competing as an individual, enters the final round in 21st place at 3-over 147. She carded a second-round score of 74.
The third round of the tournament will be played Sunday. The field will tee off starting at 8:30 a.m. using a shotgun start. UVA will play with Charlotte and Virginia Tech during the final round. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
