CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia volleyball sophomore outside hitter Grace Turner (Cincinnati, Ohio) will miss the remainder of the 2019 season after suffering a knee injury on opening weekend, head coach Aaron Smith announced on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Turner set a career high with 21 kills in the 2019 season-opener against Furman. She sustained her injury in the second set of Virginia’s match against Coastal Carolina.

“Grace is a huge part of this program whether she is or is not on the court,” Smith said. “During this time of obvious disappointment, she remains focused on her teammates and the season ahead. Her excitement for her teammates and selflessness is already serving as source of inspiration for the team and staff. Grace is incredibly motivated to return to the court better than before, and I have no doubt she will do just that.”

As a freshman in 2018, Turner recorded 212 kills. She finished the campaign ranked second on the team in kills per set.
