ATLANTA –  Members of the Virginia women’s swimming team concluded competition at the Toyota U.S Open Championships on Saturday (Dec. 7) at the Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center.

Freshman Maddie Donohoe (Annandale, Va.) captured the third-fastest 1500-meter freestyle time in school history during the day’s events. Donohoe recorded a time of 16:42.89, finishing 14th overall.

In the prelims, freshman Kate Douglass (Pelham, N.Y.) tied for a 21st-place finish in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 56.08. Her time ranks seventh all-time in UVA history. Douglass did not race in the finals.

Freshman Ella Nelson (Nashville, Tenn.) recorded a time of 2:33.91 in the prelims of the 200-meter breaststroke. She finished 27th in the event, capturing the eighth-fastest time in program history.

The Cavaliers will return to action on January 3 for the three-day Tennessee Diving Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn. The UVA swimmers will face Auburn in a dual meet on January 4 in Auburn, Ala.
