CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  After a record setting indoor season, junior Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) was named the men’s ACC Indoor Field Performer of the Year, the league announced on Tuesday (March 19).

Scott captured UVA’s first NCAA indoor title in a field event, winning the triple jump with a mark of 16.89m (55’5″). He was the only competitor at the national championships to jump over 55 feet, clearing the mark twice in the series. His NCAA indoor title is just the fourth for the Cavalier men in program history and first since Henry Wynne’s victory in the mile in 2016. Scott is also the first ACC male competitor to win the indoor event.

In addition to his performance at the NCAA Championships, Scott won the ACC title in the triple jump. He recorded a jump of 16.37m (53’8.5″) on his opening attempt to win the event, passing on his final three jumps. Scott also captured a third-place finish in the long jump at the conference meet. He earned All-ACC honors and set a school record with his jump of 7.58m (24’10.5).

During the season, Scott set an ACC and school record in the triple jump, jumping 16.90m (55’5.5″) at the Tiger Paw Invite. He was one of four athletes nationally and the only ACC jumper to clear 55 feet during the year.

The conference honor is the first for Scott and fourth ACC Indoor Performer of the Year honor for the Cavalier men. Including Scott, Virginia has had a male athlete win the award three of the last four years as Wynne was named the Indoor Track Performer of the Year in 2016 and Jordan Young was named the Indoor Field Performer of the Year in 2017.

The Cavaliers will return to action on March 29, sending members of the program to the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond, Virginia, and the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina.
