CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The No. 4 Virginia men’s tennis team (9-2) returns to action this weekend, heading to Florida to play a pair of matches. The Cavaliers will take on USF (6-4) on Sunday, March 10 at 1:30 p.m. in Tampa and then close out the trip by facing UCF (7-5) on Tuesday, March 12 at 1 p.m. at the UCF Collegiate Tennis Center at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
 
Live scoring will be available for both matches through links posted on VirginiaSports.com. Live streaming video will only be available for the UCF match.
 
Sunday’s match will be the first action for the Cavaliers since their final match of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Feb. 17. The Cavaliers went 2-1 in the tournament, downing No. 9 Stanford and No. 5 USC and falling to indoor-champion Ohio State.
 
Junior Carl Söderlund (Stockholm, Sweden) is No. 15 in the singles rankings. Söderlund is 9-1 in singles this spring, including a 6-1 record on the top court. Freshman Brandon Nakashima (San Diego, Calif.) is currently ranked No. 50. Nakashima played in the main draw of the Indian Wells Challenger last week, falling to former Cavalier JC Aragone in the first round. Freshman Ryan Goetz (Greenlawn, N.Y.) leads the Cavaliers with 17 singles wins this season, including six wins in the spring.
 
The Bulls, who host No. 38 Tulane on Friday afternoon, are undefeated at home this season and head into the weekend on a four-match win streak. Alberto Barroso-Campos, who is currently ranked No. 29 in singles, is 9-1 at No. 1 singles while freshman Chase Ferguson is 5-2 on two. USF holds a 3-2 advantage in the series.
 
UCF moved up to No. 49 in this week’s Oracle/ITA team rankings after winning six-straight matches, including topping Miami, 4-0. Gabriel Decamps has moved up to No. 18 in the singles rankings. The Knights will host No. 2 Wake Forest on Sunday before taking on the Cavaliers on Tuesday. This is the second-ever meeting between the two schools, with Virginia picking up a 4-3 win last year in Orlando.
 
The Cavaliers return to conference play next weekend, traveling to face No. 35 NC State on Friday, March 15 at 5 p.m., before heading to Winston-Salem, N.C. to take on No. 2 Wake Forest.
